Simon Ackles-Dold
As a Landscape Architect and builder, and a Fish and Wildlife Technician, I have over 20 years of experience working with natural materials and cultivating a strong affinity with the natural environment.
My journey started as a certified Fish and Wildlife Technician which led me down a pathway to obtaining a degree in Environmental Science and eventually a master's degree in Landscape Architecture.
As co-owner for 15 years of Genus Loci Ecological Landscapes, an award-winning landscape design and building firm, I worked with our clients to design and build artful, functional, and ecologically sustainable landscapes.
With Rooted in Stone, I now focus on my passion of working with natural stone and plants to design and create landscapes that focus on the aesthetic relationship between the two. Stone gives strength and is the foundation to a landscape while plants bring that landscape to life. It is this aesthetic relationship which creates a balance between the two, one complimenting the other. Rooted in Stone seeks to capture this relationship by creating “country inspired” landscapes which serve as an intimate and comfortable refuge for outdoor living. Rooted in Stone landscapes are designed to create a sense of peace and calm inspired from nature, allowing you to immerse and connect with the natural world around you.
